The latest edition of Mohawk Magazine is now available. Mohawk Magazine is a publication that showcases outstanding staff and students who are advancing Mohawk's strategic priorities of quality, innovation and sustainability.
In this issue you'll read about Mohawk College's Health, Wellness and Fitness program and the work that that program and its students have been doing as they celebrate the graduation of their first class this summer. You'll also read about how the Alternate and Renewable Energies program STARRT helped a former steelworker start a new career. And if you're a fan of trivia you'll definitely want to read about Mohawk alumnus and entrepreneur Dave Millard, the creator of a new trivia called OutSmart.

Mohawk's Fennell Campus will serve as the end of day celebration stop for Greater Hamilton during the Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay. The cross-Canada relay will make its way through Hamilton on the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 12 and the morning of Sunday, Nov. 13.
The relay's community planning team is accepting nominations for the final medal bearer to run, walk or wheel into the Fennell Campus through the Mohawk Learning Exchange. Nominees must be a resident of Hamilton, at least 13 years of age, and able to participate unaccompanied in the three hour medal bearer experience. In addition, the nominee should be:

Awards of Excellence and President's Awards 2011: Nominations are now being accepted to recognize exceptional colleagues who make Mohawk an even better place to learn and work. All individuals and teams who've gone above and beyond in advancing one or more of Mohawk's Strategic Priority Actions of quality, innovation and sustainability can be nominated. Individuals can be recognized for everything from an exceptional contribution during their first year at Mohawk to a lifetime of exemplary service.
*New for 2011: Twelve Awards of Excellence will be presented. The 12 award recipients will then be the finalists for the annual President's Award. Award recipients will also be considered as Mohawk nominees for future Colleges Ontario and Association of Canadian Community Colleges award competitions.
2011 Alumni of Distinction Awards
Do you know Mohawk grad who has that something extra? Someone who you think deserves to be recognized for his or her great work and achievements. Nominate them for the 2011 Alumni of Distinction Awards. Mohawk College's Alumni Association is accepting nominations until July 30.

Tuesday, June 28: Start Smart is a transition to college initiative where we showcase our fabulous services through workshops and short session from about 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will also host a BBQ lunch for students attending.

Wednesday, Aug. 31: President's Breakfast at Liuna Station, 360 James Street North. Doors open at 8 a.m. Breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m. Awards and special presentations until 11:30 a.m. The President's Breakfast is open to all full and part-time Mohawk faculty, support and administrative staff and retirees. Simcoe.com has this story about the Future Ready Leaders symposium hosted earlier this week by the Town of Innisfil and Mohawk College Enterprise. The program helps local governments build and enhance administrative leadership. Mayors, chief administrative officers, deputy mayors and human resources directors from 15 of Simcoe County's municipalities took part. The Barrie Examiner also reported on the symposium.

Effective June 15th, Canada Post has stopped mail delivery across Canada. Until service resumes students, prospective students and college staff are asked to make other arrangements to ensure time sensitive material is received on time. If you are submitting transcripts, waiting for your tuition fee statement, needing to make a payment or are awaiting a payment, there are other options available to you. Please see the information below to determine which situation applies to you.
Transcripts for Admission
Mohawk College will be accepting transcripts for admission to programs from applicants by fax at 1-(905)-575-2392 or emailed to transcript@mohawkcollege.ca
Tuition Fee Statements
Registration packages and Tuition Fee Statements will continue to be emailed to MoCoMotion accounts of newly accepted students.

NEW* Parking for CE students
Given the Canada Post strike situation, Mohawk College will allow CE students to park without displaying a parking pass in the vehicle after 5:00 pm weekdays and all day over the weekends during the strike timeframe. Registration receipts that contain the parking permits will be mailed out as soon as the strike is over. For any CE courses that are delivered during the day, please visit the CE registration office at your campus to receive your Registration receipt that contains the parking pass.

Documentation can also be dropped off in person at the Student Services Office at all college campuses. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Hamilton Spectator has this story about Mohawk General Arts and Sciences graduate Anthony Ramuscak. Anthony, who suffered a near-fatal stroke when he was nine years old, left his wheelchair behind and walked across the stage during his Convocation ceremony to a standing ovation from the graduating class of 2011, their families and friends.

The Hamilton Spectator has this tribute to retired Mohawk Music professor Dave McMurdo who passed away suddenly at his home Monday morning from an apparent heart attack. Dave had taught at Mohawk for 32 years. Dave is survived by his wife Donna, daughters Emily and Candice and three grandchildren. A memorial celebration of Dave' life is planned for July 4 at Toronto's Rex Hotel.
